It's a miracle! I can't really believe that I am actually writing these words but it seems to be official...
WE'RE HAVING A BABY!
I know it happens everyday but this part of life has been such a faith walk for me. During my whole 20's, I had a desire for a family of my own. But there was nothing in the natural to make me think it could ever happen. I spent many years wondering if my dream would come true. My future was in God's hands, the best place it could be. Now I can say there is such a peace in waiting for the perfect timing of God. I have no idea what I am doing but I have total confidence that God will see me through. What better parent to learn from? Nick is a natural but I'm going to need some supernatural help! I've always held onto this verse about Abraham and Sarah. So maybe I'm not 90 like Sarah but sometimes I thought I was going to be! "He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform." Romans 4:20-21. I knew that God was able to perform what I believe He put in my heart. I'm just so thankful I had friends like you to help me in trying times to walk by faith and not by sight. Thank you so much!
We made a trip to see our families and tell them in person. I wrapped up little bears with bibs that said, "I love Grandma", "I love Grandpa" and "I love My Aunt". It was so much fun to see the look on their faces when they realized what was going on. My mom was totally shocked but Nick's parents seem to expect it. The two great grandmothers and great aunt teared up and it just meant so much to me to bring a little smile to their faces. Nick is the first cousin on both sides so it's kind of cool. My mom got me tearing up because it just made it seem so real. My mom and I have spent many, many years alone on vacations and other times (with my sister being far away) and I kind of wondered if I would ever be able to give her that news. She was genuinely surprised which was so great.
So now for fun details...I'm 2 months, 7 months to go. I can never figure out all the weeks people always quote. But that's 8 weeks for you experts. That makes my due date January 26, 2009. So we will have quite an anniversary present! Anastasia was born last year on January 27th. Baby Babinetz might share a birthday! Dana, that could save us a lot on joint birthday parties through the next 18 years :)! And Gina, if Little Sunshine goes to the same school, we could carpool! Can you imagine having kids in the same class? I can barely imagine having a child at all! Well, if anyone has some advice, feel free to share. I am all ears! Please pray for us. Thanks!!!

We are super excited for you two!
1. My fav pregnancy book was the Mayo Guide to Pregnancy - loved the week to week pictures of what baby was supposed to look like.
2. Anything that you feel nervous about regarding pregnancy, labor, parenthood - just cover it with prayer. Also you will be amazed to find out how many others are praying with you. There is a sweetie at the Rock (Arica H) who prays for all the new mamas to be - eventhough we weren't really friends (more like acquaintances) it still meant so much to me to know she was praying.
3. Babies do NOT have to be expensive - you can do it on the cheap. Having Huck added very little to our weekly budget - we had so much given to us, we breast fed (no formula costs), and we cloth diapered. We used fuzzi bunz - info can be found at www.fuzzibunz.com - and if you would even consider investigating cloth - let me know - I can help you save $$ there too.
We love you both so much! Enjoy this season!
Wow! Nick & Victoria!!! Congrats! What exciting news! You guys are going to be great parents! Love you guys!
Wow, reading that, I am so overwhelmed with joy for you both! God is so good! You will be wonderful parents, I have no doubt. You have lots of friends with new babies, so we all are in the same boat! :) You are in our prayers always. Have a wonderful week!
yay! yay! yay! this is so exciting! seems like just yesterday that we were running 10 miles over the Queensboro Bridge in the freezing cold talking about our dreams.
And now we're actually living them!
Awesome! =)
This is Brian Babinetz's girlfriend by the way, I randomly popped up here when I was searching for his last name out of boredom. =P
I have no advice for you, but I am VERY happy for you and Nick! I heard from my sister who just checked up on your blog. I won't ask you a million questions like names, boy/girl preference and room colors (although I just did) but I'll be keeping a close eye on your posts for the next 7 months! Wow, Victoria, yours turned into a baby blog too!
Dana asked me to add, "You don't know what you are doing? I think we all feel like that, even those who have older children. Sweetheart, do any of us really know what we are doing?! But we know Who to go to and that is our great rescue in time of need. I hope I can be of help for whatever you need. And as far as advice: just push and scream. The baby usually does the rest (wink). Love you."
What an incredible testimony you have! Actually, that would be a nice name for the kid...Testimony Babinetz. Kidding! We are so thrilled for you. My advice? Take people's advice with a grain of salt...don't obsess about what the books say...because you'll just go crazy. Figure out what works for your baby and your lifestyle (which takes time so don't beat yourself up for the first 3 months while you're trying lots of different things til you get it right!) Enjoy this awesome awesome gift!
